Manchester City boss Josep Guardiola has praised Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta after the weekend’s thrashing, adding that they are still a strong side, but just a little bit unlucky.
The Spaniard spoke on Sunday and defended his fellow country man who was second in command at Eitihad before signing back to former club Arsenal.
“In football, people want result, result, result. Sometimes, you have the squad – look at us, except for Phil and Kevin, all the other people are ready,” said Guardiola and also added that,
“I know him perfectly and know the quality he has as a person and as a manager.”
In his defence, Arteta attempted to explain Saturday’s defeat that leaves his side at the foot of the Premier League table after three games with zero points.
“At the start of the game, it was exactly what we planned to make it really uncomfortable for them,” the under-pressure Arsenal boss said.
Guardiola who won the league last season believes a full strength Arsenal will be a different proposition, saying: “The players make our job good. The moment he has the full squad, everything is going well.
Bottom placed Arsenal will now play at home on Saturday against second bottom placed Norwich, who are making a comeback to the league after being relegated two seasons ago.
