54 year old Mike Tyson to make a comeback to boxing in September.

Legendary boxer Mike Tyson will meet 51 year old Roy Jones Jr. on September 12 in an eight-round exhibition bout, he announced on Thursday.

“We’re both accomplished fighters, we know how to take care of ourselves,” the 54 year old Tyson said on Espn, dismissing concerns about their safety adding that  “We’ll be alright’

The bout will take place in Los Angeles, California. Tyson said, though the venue was still to be announced.

The boxers will wear headgear due to California rules, and said the fight will be broadcasted on pay-per-view as well as social video platform Thriller.

Andy Foster, Executive Director of the California State Athletic Commission, told Yahoo Sports that the fighters would use 12-ounce gloves instead of the standard 10-ounce for heavyweights.

“Just because we’re 54 doesn’t mean we have to start a new career and our lives are totally over. Not when you’re feeling as beautiful as I do and I’m sure other people feel the same way.” A

The American former professional boxer competed from 1985 to 2005. He reigned as the undisputed world heavyweight champion from 1987 to 1990 and was the first heavyweight boxer to simultaneously hold the WBA, WBC, and IBF titles, as well as the only heavyweight to successively unify them.

His life has been one of ups and downs and his boxing comeback is seen by many as a way to nourish his ‘may be’ economically challenged life.

Now the world is eagerly waiting to see Mike ‘Iron” Tyson box one more time.Attachments area
