Ruben FM Shines, Celebrating Award Winning Journalism and Community Impact in 2025

Ruben FM has recorded an exceptional year marked by outstanding achievements by its journalists, firmly positioning the station as a leading voice in community centered journalism. These accomplishments reflect dedication, professionalism, and a deep commitment to telling stories that matter to the people.

The journey of excellence began with Carrilus Muye, who marked Ruben FM’s first major win of the year. He was crowned Journalist of the Year by the Mukuru Youth Initiative, an award that recognizes journalistic integrity, consistency, and impact within the community.

This recognition celebrated Carrulus’ unwavering commitment to amplifying grassroots voices, particularly the youth, and addressing real issues affecting Mukuru residents. His work stood out for its authenticity, courage, and relevance to everyday community life.

Following closely was Robert Ledira Botere, whose investigative reporting brought even greater recognition to Ruben FM on the national stage. He won the Best Investigative Journalist in Kenya award at the Jamhuri Kenya Awards, a highly competitive and prestigious platform.

Robert’s investigative work demonstrated exceptional depth, accuracy, and courage, shedding light on issues often ignored or underreported. His reporting upheld the highest standards of journalism while holding power to account.

In addition to the Jamhuri Kenya Awards, Robert also excelled at the Association of Grassroots Journalists Kenya Awards 2025. He won the Best Story on Governance and Accountability Reporting, further cementing his reputation as a journalist committed to public interest.

He also emerged as the Second Runner-Up in Affordable Housing Reporting, an area of great significance to urban communities like Mukuru. His storytelling highlighted housing challenges while giving a voice to affected residents.

These multiple awards underscore the consistency and quality of journalism produced at Ruben FM. They demonstrate the station’s ability to nurture talent capable of competing and excelling at both community and national levels.

Beyond individual recognition, these awards reflect the collective effort of the entire Ruben FM team. Editors, presenters, producers, and field reporters work collaboratively to ensure stories are well-researched, ethical, and impactful.

The achievements also highlight Ruben FM’s strong editorial focus on governance, accountability, youth empowerment, and social justice. These themes resonate deeply with the station’s mission to serve the community through responsible journalism.

More importantly, the awards signify more than trophies; they represent trust earned from the community. They affirm that Ruben FM journalists are not just reporters but advocates for positive change and development.

Through impactful storytelling, Ruben FM continues to shine a light on community challenges while inspiring solutions. The station remains committed to empowering voices from the grassroots and strengthening civic engagement.

As Ruben FM celebrates these milestones, it looks forward to building on this success by mentoring young journalists and producing even more stories that drive change. These achievements stand as proof that community media can lead with excellence, integrity, and purpose.
