Tusker fc on Thursday afternoon announced that striker David Majak will join Kalmar FF in Sweden on a six month loan stint beginning May 1st.
Making the announcement via their website, the club was quick to praise the over six foot tall striker and quoted him, “I am happy to make this important step in my career and I want to thank Tusker for the opportunity and allowing me to take this move. I am ready for the challenge ahead and I will keep working hard just as I have done here.” He said.
The club’s management was also in agreement with the deal with the CEO seemingly happy to let go Robert Matano’s hit man.
“We are proud of the new step that Majak has taken and as a club we wish him all the best. This is a new level for him and definitely will make him improve as a player and as a person. Majak has been a faithful servant of the club and has been a disciplined and dedicated player. Seeing him make this progress is a proud step for us as a club,” the club’s Chief Executive Officer Charles Obiny has said.
The announcement may come as a shock taking into consideration that Tusker are chasing their first league title since 2016 when they last won it, though currently the league has been suspended as Kenya is battling a third wave of Covid 19.
The Robert Matano led side are currently leading the log with 36 points after playing 16 matches in Kenya’s first tier football league, just six adrift of second placed KCB who have played a game less.
Majak like many Africans, seems to be heading to greener pastures and would have been unlikely not to grab the opportunity, though he should be aware that the soon to be his home Kalmar, are fourth placed on the log with seven points after playing three games in the Allveskan, just two points shy off leaders Djurgaden, former home of Harambee stars striker Michale Olunga.
The South Sudan international who has been part of the Tusker family for three seasons will link up with his new side effective May 1 for an initial loan offer until the end of the year with a view to sign permanently.
