A good pay, Caf action and a national team call up, Ingwe don’t have that: Austin Odhiambo

Under fire Afc leopards midfielder Austin Odhiambo has added salt to the wounds of Ingwe faithful’s with fresh demands.

Speaking to journalist Benjamin Mwaka, Austin denied claims that he has a three year running contract with Afc leopards.

“I have heard those rumors, but how practical is that? I have called the office and I am ready to have talks with them. No one from the office has ever called, I have no option but to look into other offers now,” said the midfielder who started his playing career at fifth tier side Babadogo united.

Austin also lamented on the financial situation at the Dan Shikanda chair led side claiming to have gone months now without financial incentives.

“At home they look at me now as the bread winner. Is saddens me when I can’t afford my parents rent, nor send them financial help. I am ready and willing to play for Ingwe, but that will only happen if they settle my arrears and then we can have a new deal again,” the former Afc leopards academy graduate said.

It has been highly rumored that Gormahia might be looking to replace Captain Kenneth Muguna. The lanky midfielder is set to leave for either DRC’s DC Motema Pembe or Tanzania’s Simba SC.

K’ogallo who will play in next season’s Caf champions’ league fit well in Austin’s wishes and now seems favorites to land his signature.

According to the Babadogo native, at least seven clubs are chasing his signature, but only five are serious on snapping him.

Also to note better is the current financial situation of majority of Kenyan football clubs. With Austin denying claims of a three year contract with Afc leopards, it seems imminent that he will leave the cashless den.

Now all eyes will be on his next move as his five promising clubs are yet to be disclosed.

It is unfortunate for former champions Ingwe to lose such a promising youngster because of financial difficulties.

But again it begs the question as to why the club would import foreigners during the transfer window while they can’t afford to pay a local who graduated from their academy.Attachments area
