ALTERED: This image has been edited to depict Hassan Joho in a UDA Party t-shirt

An image shared on Twitter by Muchiri Gichuri depicting that Hassan Joho, the former Governor of Mombasa County, has decamped from the ODM Party and joined the UDA Party, has been ALTERED.

This tweet that was shared on 2nd July 2023 depicted the former governor donning an attire with the ruling party’s symbol. 

This tweet with the caption, “Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho officially ditches Raila’s ODM party and joined the ruling UDA party,” has gone viral and has been shared here, here and here.

To verify the authenticity of this, Ruben FM performed a Google image reverse search and traced the original image on Joho’s verified Instagram account. The photo, which was posted on 4th November 2020, shows Joho in a plain yellow t-shirt without the UDA Party logo.

The image shared by Muchiri Gichuri, therefore, is an altered image of the original post.
