Tournament favorites Sun City Fc have been banned out of the annual Ruben Fm tournament for causing havoc and indefinitely ending their game against Creative Hands Fc last Sunday.

Speaking at Ruben Fm’s offices, station manager and tournament organizer Thomas Odhiambo was unapologetic.

“We decided as a board that such incidents will be punished by teams being banned. On Sunday they caused havoc and disrupted a well-attended game that ended prematurely. They are out of this year’s tourney,” said Thomas who also added that the disciplinary measures are there to ensure that other teams do not follow suit.

During the highly charged evening game at Ruben stadium on Sunday, Sun City Fc striker Wanga who had earlier on scored a beauty was angry with the line man and used an abusive language on him.

According to the locals who had graced yellow uniforms from bottom up also saw their team manager Dante using abusive language on the referee hence a straight red card.

The highlight of the evening saw one of their skillful midfielders punching Creative Hands Fc goalkeeper.

In the process, the second half substitute lost two teeth leaving many to wonder whether Sun City Fc players were in the wrong career, maybe boxing or mixed martial arts would have done the trick to calm some emotions.

“ It’s not a ban for life, but generally we just have to pass the message and also give them time to learn. Definitely, we shall admit them again next year, but if they misbehave again, then we will again enforce disciplinary measures on them,” finalized Thomas Odhiambo who wished the other participants a good tournament and passed a message of discipline to enhance peace within Mukuru slum.

The annual Ruben Fm tournament now takes a short break until 20th of October. The games will be played at Embakasi Girls high school, Ruben stadium and Vision fields.
