Reports from Germany have indicated that Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund were left baffled by Manchester united’s behavior.

It has been reported that the English Premier League club tried and failed to sign Nico Shulz on deadline day even after failing to get Jadon Sancho.

The Red Devils ditched their pursuit of Sancho and offered to pay £1million to bring in left-back Schulz, 27, on a season-long loan.

It is understood Dortmund rejected the offer following the saga surrounding United’s attempts to land Sancho, which raised serious questions about the club’s recruitment.

It was no secret Sancho was the top target, but Ed Woodward failed to match Dortmund’s £108m valuation.

The Red Devils ended up signing Alex Telles from Porto in a £15m deal, while Edinson Cavani also joined on a free transfer.
