Nairobi governor Mike Mbuvi ‘Sonko’ has threatened the Nairobi Metropolitan Services with a letter to the International Criminal Court over what he says to be violations of human rights.
Speaking on Sunday at the slums of Kaloleni estate in Nairobi, a charged youthful crowd cheered him up.
“If we let this happen to us here at Kaloleni, tomorrow it will be in Mbotela and then the rest of Makadara. We have seen what has happened at Kariobangi, in Dagoretti and Githurai. All those happenings are against the laws of ICC. This cannot happen to our citizens during the Coronavirus pandemic,” said Sonko who added that he is still in charge of Nairobi and he has every right to represent the city dwellers.
There has been a war of words between Sonko and the NMS head General Mohammed Badi since key services of the city were transferred from his docket to Badi’s.
NMS led by the soldier, is on a mission to clean up Kenya’s capital and has since embarked on that.
Different areas of the city have been demolished as illegal constructions and people evicted, but this according to Sonko is not as per the law.
“ I think ICC and the security council should look into matters affecting Nairobi dwellers. I will write a letter to ICC to report those who are abusing the rights of Nairobi dwellers during this pandemic.” Continued Sonko who finalized by urging other politicians to be fair and protect the interests of Kenyan citizens instead of waiting until Election Day to show up.
The Nairobi governor who many pundits see as a political outcast has also urged Nairobi dwellers not to support the Building Bridges Initiative since it does not cater for the interest of the common mwananchi.
