Rachier: I would like Gor mahia to Emulate Simba.

Gormahia’s chairperson Ambrose Rachier has thrown his admiration to neighboring country Tanzania, by saying that he would like his club Gormahia to be as professional as Simba Sports Club.

Speaking with much confidence in Nairobi, the don could not hide his admiration of the current Ligii kuu champions..

“We need to follow the example of our neighbors Simba sports club from Tanzania. In my strategic plan, I am trying my best to make the club self-sustaining. It is a high time Gormahia became as professional as we would like it to be,” Rachier said adding that after these coming elections on eighth of August, he would embark on a serious mission to now conquer Africa with greatness.

According to the city lawyer at the helm of Gormahia’s leadership, the club has been having financial problems because they rely solely on sponsors.
Rachier wants to change all these, but should it be known that it won’t be the first time to attempt this.

In 2016, the club had allegedly signed a deal with bread company ‘Good bread’, a deal that went sour as another company ‘Elliots’ took to court in a legal battle. The deal was said to be benefitting Gormahia one shilling per bread and in return the breads were to be branded with Gormahia’s badges, while Elliots Company was to pay two shillings per bread.

The club that Rachier admires most, Simba sports club in 2016 embarked on a journey to greatness. The Tanzanians formed an executive committee which assigned volunteer members and experts to do a research and come up with recommendations and the way forward.

The club was changed into a public limited liability company which is formed jointly between current members with 51% shares of which 10% fully paid and 41% and the Investor 49%.
The changes went through a public tender process overseen by the Special Committee of Investment.

Prior to the receipt of tenders, the Simba Sports Club Special Committee of Investment appointed an Evaluation Committee (EC), which was composed of five members with responsibility to carry out the evaluation and make award recommendation to the Investment Committee by identifying the most economically advantageous tender.

The highest evaluated tender was the one of Mr. Mohammed Dewji which was determined by applying the evaluation criteria, as specified in the tender documents. The evaluation process passed through Expression of Interest, Technical proposal, Financial Proposal and finally Negotiation stage.
On the 2nd of November 2018, Simba sports Club Company Limited was incorporated having two shareholders namely Simba Sports Club Holding Company Limited owning 10% paid shared and 41% unpaid shares and Mo Simba Company Limited owning 49% fully paid shares.

And that’s how Gormahia’s neighbors in Tanzania have managed to keep afloat of the ever demanding financial market of the African soccer.

It’s a high time that Gormahia’s top leadership could think in such a direction. The club should also attract members who pay their membership fees in millions, not in mere hundreds or thousands. The brains of marketing and management are highly required here.

However, all eyes are now on August eighth if the club will hold its elections, and then what next for the mighty K’ogallo who even after more than 40 years in existence, are yet to have a training ground leave alone a stadium.
