Out of favor Rudiger set to leave Stanford Bridge.

German International defender Antonio Rudiger is reportedly on his way out of Chelsea after falling down the pecking order, as the new season started.

“With the center halves I can’t have them all in the squad. I keep getting asked about the size of the squad. There might be movement, we know that, but nothing is concrete so don’t read too much into those selections at the minute. It will have to be things which are right for the club and individuals and me and in terms of what happens in the next couple of weeks.’ Head coach Lampard said on Tuesday after being asked on Rudiger’s situation at the club.

The 27 year old has not started in any of the first three games. Andreas Christensen and Kurt Zouma have started in the Premier league while new signing Thiago Silva and Fikayo Tomori started at Barnsley during the Carabao cup win on Wednesday.

This leaves Rudiger as fifth choice in the center of defense and Lampard is happy to let him leave before the transfer window closes on 5 October, as a result.

German publication The Kicker have reported that Barcelona are keen on the defender and are in a strong position to sign him as new manager Ronald Koeman builds a new squad at the Camp Nou.

Roma, the club Chelsea signed Rudiger from, are also interested in doing a deal as also more reports claim that Paris Saint-Germain want to agree a season long loan for the defender.

Chelsea paid £27m for Rudiger in 2017 and might want to recoup the vast majority of that if they were to sell him this summer, with his current contract still running until 2022.
