False: Raila Odinga did not decline to greet Boni Khalwale

Former Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance Presidential Flag-bearer Raila Odinga did not refuse to greet Boni Khalwale at the burial of Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa’s mother.

There has been a tweet  by HB Tirkole_63.  going around on social media that the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga failed to greet Dr. Boni Khalwale during the burial of the Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa’s mother.

However, it is true

Dr Khalwale, a current affiliate of Kenya Kwanza Coalition that is led by President William Ruto, met with Raila Odinga, the leader of the Azimio One Kenya Alliance at the funeral after which Dr. Khalwale tweeted a photo with a caption portraying the Azimio leader as being bitter following the outcome of the 9th August 2022 election poll results.

In a 31st October 2022 tweet, Khalwale said he met Odinga but noticed that the former prime minister was pissed at him. However,

Ruben FM looked into the validity of the claim that Dr. Boni Khalwale made on his twitter account handle.

According to a Youtube video posted by Newslife TV, the two politicians attended the funeral of the governor’s mother. The video then shows that after addressing the mourners, Dr. Khalwale stepped off  dias and went ahead to shake hands with those seated at the front row and they included the governor, Raila Odinga and then Kalonzo Musyoka.

Based on our findings, the claim that Raila Odinga ignored Boni Halwale as insinuated by that tweet is false and misleading.
