Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos is set to miss both legs of the Champions League quarter-final against Liverpool after suffering a calf muscle injury on Wednesday while playing Spain against Kosovo.
The 35 year old veteran said that he noticed some pains while on the training pitch following Spain’s 3-1 victory against Kosovo and scans on Thursday confirmed the injury.
“If there is something that hurts me, it is not being able to help the team in these highly demanding matches,” the Spaniard said on his instagram account.
But the talk of the town is that Real Madrid are at home for the first leg against Liverpool.
The tie is special as the world was waiting for Ramos to lock horns against Mohamed Salah, who suffered a shoulder injury in a challenge from Ramos during the 2018 final in Kiev.
Real went on to win that game 3-1, but Salah said earlier this week he bears no grudges.
“Let’s say I have a special desire to win the game and to qualify for the semi-final, whatever happens now is not going to change the result of Kiev. It’s over,” The Egyptian told spanish newspaper Marca.
The bully center back is expected to miss Real Madrid‘s upcoming matches against Eibar (April 3), Liverpool (April 7) and Barcelona (April 10).
