CASH STRAPPED ARSENAL SET TO DO AWAY WITH BIG NAMES TO EASE UP THEIR WAGE BILL IN THE SUMMER.

Arsenal are reportedly plotting a mass clear-out this summer with up to four senior players on Mikel Arteta’s chopping list..

According to sports magazine The Sun, the London club is feeling the effects of Covid 19 on its finances and has already earmarked  four senior players on its wish list to go as it has already borrowed about 120 million pounds from the bank of England last year.

It is now clear that Alexandre Lacazette, David Luiz, Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira could all leave to free up space on the wage bill.

However, more cost-cutting measures are to be put in place and Arteta is set to be forced to let go of some important first-team members.

Though French man Lacazette’s form has improved this season, he is reaching the end of his £150k-a-week contract and will be let go this summer.

Brazuilian center back David Luiz, whose contract also expires at the end of the season and reports suggesting he could be offered a new one-year deal have been quashed.

It is also believed Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira, who are currently on loan with Hertha Berlin and Atletico Madrid, will be sold in the summer with the Gunners demanding around £25m each for the midfielders.

The club already started its cost-cutting measures in January, with chief executive Vinai Venkatesham terminating the contract of playmaker  Mesut Ozil, Shkodran Mustafi and Sokratis Papastathopoulos.

The Gunners will save £16.5m on wages for the rest of this season with Sead Kolasinac, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Joe Willock also loaned out last month for the remainder of the season.

Now all eyes will be on the Emirates stadium to see who will be out in the summer as the club struggles to secure its place back in the English premier league and in Europe.
