FAKE: This gazette notice claiming that 24th October 2022 is a public holiday is fabricated

The claim was first shared on 21st October by Sir  Johnstone Ltoponua as a tweet then on 23rd October 2022, it was shared by the same person as a gazette notice.

The two tweets have attracted a lot of reactions among tweeps with Kenyans on Twitter(KOT) believing that Diwali is a public holiday in Kenya. Diwali is a Hindu Religious Festival of Lights and is one of the most important festivals in Hinduism. The festival usually lasts five days, or six in some regions of India, and is celebrated during the Hindu lunisolar month Kartika.

 

Ruben FM, therefore, conducted a fact check to verify the authenticity of the information. The Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government has denounced the gazette notice as fake through their Twitter handle.

Through the tweet, the Interior Ministry has renounced the viral gazette notice and urged members of the public to ignore it.
