Ruben FM Tournament 2026 Brings Community Together Through Football, Unity and Peace

The Ruben FM Tournament 2026 brought together football enthusiasts and community members for a day of sporting action, teamwork and community celebration as Ruben FM marked its 10th anniversary under the theme of unity, inclusion and peaceful coexistence. The tournament, that started on Saturday, October 31, 2026, provided a platform for local football teams to showcase their talent, compete and strengthen bonds through the power of sport.

Under the hashtags #RubenFmAt10, #RubenFmTournament2026, #TofautiZetuNguvuYetu, #VunjaUkimya and #MukuruBilaUkatili, the event carried a broader message beyond football, highlighting the importance of embracing diversity, promoting peace and building a united community.

The tournament kicked off with an exciting encounter between Young Warriors and City Eagles, with both sides displaying determination as they battled for an early advantage. City Eagles eventually secured a 2–1 victory over Young Warriors in a competitive opening fixture.

Despite the defeat, Young Warriors had a reason to celebrate after their player, Peter Wanyama, was named Player of the Match in recognition of his individual performance. The award highlighted the importance of recognizing individual talent and effort, even in a competitive sporting environment where results do not always go one’s way.

In partnership with Edmund Rice Foundation, KKAFI Sports House Ltd, Ruben Centre and Mukuru Community Justice Center and many others who are still coming through, there involvement highlighted the importance of collaboration in promoting community development and social cohesion. The partnerships brought together organizations with a shared interest in supporting community initiatives, creating opportunities for engagement and strengthening relationships among residents. This support is particularly significant in advancing the broader message of the tournament, going beyond football to address issues of unity, peaceful coexistence, inclusion and the need for a community free from violence.

Ruben FM recognizes that meaningful community transformation requires collective effort. Through collaborations with organizations working within and alongside the community, the station continues to create platforms that encourage participation, amplify local voices and promote positive social change. The station appreciates all its partners for being part of this milestone celebration as Ruben FM marks 10 years of connecting, informing and engaging the community.

Beyond Football: A Call for Unity and Peace

While football provided the platform for competition, the Ruben FM Tournament 2026 carried a message that extended beyond the pitch. Through the theme #TofautiZetuNguvuYetu, the tournament is emphasizing the differences within communities should be embraced as a source of strength rather than division. The campaign hashtags #VunjaUkimya and #MukuruBilaUkatili also reinforced the importance of speaking out against violence, promoting peaceful coexistence and encouraging community members to take an active role in building safer neighborhoods.

As a community radio station, Ruben FM continues to recognize the importance of using its platforms to connect residents, amplify community voices and promote conversations that contribute to positive social change. The tournament is therefore more than a sporting competition; it is an opportunity to celebrate community identity, encourage togetherness and demonstrate how sport can bring people from different backgrounds onto common ground.
