Grief in Mukuru as Body of Two-Year-Old Boy Found in Ngong River

Grief and shock have engulfed residents of Kingstone area in Mukuru kwa Ruben after the body of a two-year-old boy was found floating in the Ngong River. The discovery has left the local community deeply distressed, with questions now surrounding the circumstances that led to the child’s death.

The condition and appearance of the body appeared to suggest that the child may have drowned after getting into the contaminated waters of the river. However, the exact cause and circumstances of his death have not yet been officially established, as police and medical experts continue with investigations.

Police officers, accompanied by forensic investigators, arrived at the scene following the discovery. The body was retrieved from the river and taken away for further examination to establish the exact cause of death and determine what may have happened before the child ended up in the river.

The discovery comes four days after the boy’s mother, Wanjiku, reported him missing at a police station and also alerted Ruben FM in an effort to mobilise the community and authorities in the search for her son. According to information from the family, the child was last seen alive in the Kingstone area  the same locality where his body has now been recovered.

For four days, the family had been searching and hoping for his safe return. The discovery of his body has instead brought devastating news, leaving his mother and other family members in deep mourning. Residents who gathered at the scene expressed shock and sadness over the incident, with many calling for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the child’s disappearance and death.

The incident has also heightened concerns among residents over reports of an increasing number of young children going missing in different parts of Mukuru. Community members are now calling for greater vigilance and stronger measures to protect children, while urging the relevant authorities to establish whether there are any connections between the reported cases of missing children in the area.

Forensic examination is expected to provide crucial information that could help investigators determine how the child died and whether he entered the river accidentally or under circumstances that require further investigation. As the police continue their investigations, the community remains anxious and is awaiting the findings that will provide answers to the family and shed light on the circumstances surrounding the child’s death.

For Wanjiku and her family, the search that began with hope four days ago has ended in profound tragedy, as they now await answers about what happened to the two-year-old boy.

The discovery has left Kingstone in mourning and renewed calls among residents for urgent action to address the safety of children in Mukuru.
