Income Generating Activity

Our first Income Generating Activity for Mukuru Salama Centre Youth is now ready.Ten youth will be the beneficiaries of this project. We have supported them with 10 bicycles and 1000 loaves of bread to start with. The ten youth now become the official Selecta Bread Distributors in Mukuru. The project has been supported by Salama Centre, Ruben FM,Ruben Centre, Selecta Bread and Team Pankaj.More I.G.A activities for the youth will be launched courtesy of Ruben FM and Salama Centre.

There is no greater fulfilment for the heart than reaching down and uplifting the younger generation. When we give cheerfully and accept gratefully, everyone is happy and blessed. You have not lived today until you have done something for someone who can never repay you!

Salama Centre Business Club is in sync with this spirit. The business club is a socio-economic youth empowerment program that is seeking to empower Mukuru youth financially by equipping them with necessary entrepreneurial skills that will help boost their growth in the business world.
This initiative is out to ensure:
• Mukuru youth entrepreneurial skills are nurtured through mentorships programs.
• The youth are linked to business opportunities to venture in anytime they pop up.
• Interested youth who lack basic skills are equipped from the onset with entrepreneurial skills that will promote their work.

To keep this dream alive and vibrant, Mukuru Salama Centre, through the Ruben Centre, has partnered with Team Pankaj to run a bread supply commerce famously known in the streets of Mukuru as “SALAMA BREAD BIKERS” that flagged off on the 20th of July 2020.
The youth who had signed up for the activity came out enthusiastic and ready to get work done. They were equipped with uniforms for the job i.e t-shirts, pants, protection gear and a bicycle to transport the supplies.
The icing to the cake was some incentives (an inter guarantee and savings scheme just to cite as an example) among others, given to every biker just to keep them encouraged and motivated for them to work as hard so they can to finesse the job.

Salama Centre Business Club is all on a mission to serve as a benchmark for supporting the young people of Mukuru economically.
In future, this will reduce worry for the future and hopelessness among the youth who actively take part in this initiative hence promoting pro-activeness among the youth because the best antidote for worry is work.

Moreover, love is not patronizing and charity is not about pity, it is about love and empowerment.
Outrightly, this is a kind gesture to reach a wound that only compassion and hard work can heal.
